Project Editors FTC Oxford

We are currently looking for Project Editors to join our team on a 14-18-month FTC basis. The Project Editors that will be working with a small, dedicated team of editors and developers to convert all our Flash-based educational resources to HTML. The Project Editors will be working with the latest Adobe software, Animate CC, as well as bespoke in-house tools and processes. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about the challenges facing digital publishers and to get hands on experience with new technologies.

The Project Editors will have extremely good communication and organisation skills, as well as the ability to think clearly and work under pressure. Time management and the ability to prioritise are crucial, as are excellent scheduling skills for this project.

Who are we?

GL Assessment is the leading provider of formative assessments to UK schools, as well as providing assessments for overseas ministries and British, bilingual and international schools in over 100 countries worldwide. Our Oxford office; Boardworks forms part of the GL Assessment group which focusses on delivering high quality education resources that cover UK, US and international curricula and are a good fit for current classroom practices. The ideal candidate should have an interest in the education sector or digital publishing, strong editorial skills and strong, professional communication skills.

You will:

  • Converting Flash content to HTML using Adobe Animate CC and bespoke tools and processes. No coding knowledge or experience is required, but candidate should have strong technical competence and the ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Proofreading an array of educational materials for spelling, grammar and stylistic inconsistencies
  • Testing content on various OS, browsers and mobile devices.
  • Working independently on a project whilst also communicating efficiently with other team members
  • Communicating with in-house designers, developers and other editors.

What are we looking for?

  • At least one-year experience in a digital industry.
  • Experience working with Photoshop, Flash, Animate, or other graphics software.
  • Adept at learning new software quickly.
  • Adept at using the Microsoft Office Suite, especially for project management.
  • Well organised and able to work on multiple projects effectively; thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • A thorough and meticulous person with a keen eye for detail; has a good understanding of the importance of rigorous quality assurance in the context of educational resources for classroom and independent use.
  • A confident and clear communicator.

Location: Oxford

Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week
