COVID-19: How we're supporting you

Following the recent developments surrounding COVID-19, including the closure of schools in the Republic of Ireland, we wanted to let you know that we are still here to support you through this uncertain period.

We would like to reassure you that we have continuity planning in place to ensure our service to you remains consistent over the coming weeks. We are aware the situation is constantly evolving, and wish to work with you to minimise disruption.

We have a robust and secure infrastructure that allows remote access so that our employees can continue to work to support you. This is a key part of our contingency planning to mitigate risk to you, our customers, our employees and our partners. Our testing platform, Testwise, will also continue to be available during this period. Guidance will soon be available on how you can set up your pupils to take our assessments at home, should you need to do so.

Is it possible to arrange for pupils to take assessments at home?

We are currently producing guidance for both schools and parents on how to administer remote online testing. This guidance will be available by mid-April enabling schools to plan for testing from home after the Easter holidays. The information will include extensive guidance for schools to share with parents on how to create a controlled testing environment at home, such as setting dates and times for assessments, and ensuring students complete the assessment independently. 

We are initially providing guidance for the Progress Test Series (in English, maths and science), New Group Reading Test (NGRT) and New Group Spelling Test (NGST). We anticipate that guidance for some of our other assessments will follow.  

How can testing conditions be created for online remote testing from home? 

1. Students accessing the assessment from home with parents controlling the testing environment. Our tests can be conducted online from home, as long as measures are put in place to recreate a suitable testing environment. 

2. Students accessing the assessment from home with teachers invigilating. We will provide advice on how to employ video conferencing software as a means of schools invigilating testing sessions.  

Are there any security issues with remote online testing from home?

We would like to reassure you that there are no additional security issues created by using home testing. Your students’ data will be as secure as it is when testing in school as long as you are using an up-to-date operating system and regularly run anti-virus and anti-malware software on your machine.  

While our assessments were not originally designed to be taken at home, recreating testing conditions will allow students to complete the assessments to the best of their ability and schools will then be able to utilise the test results to inform decisions about learning in these challenging times. 

 

There is no one at my school to accept delivery, what do I do?

Can I reschedule my delivery?

Yes, our Customer Services team will be happy to help with this.

I need to place an order, can I delay delivery?

Yes, when placing your order please advise us of the date you would like to receive your delivery and we will adjust the shipping date to accommodate this.

Is the scoring service still available?

Yes we are still running this service, however we advise you to continue checking this page for any updates.

Is there currently a delay on turn around for results from paper tests?

Currently there is no delay and we are working to schedule. If this changes we will inform you directly.

Is the courier service still running?

Yes we use a number of different courier services to ensure service across the ROI. If we are advised of any delays we will let you know.
