GL Education Group acquires The Test Factory to expand digital assessment offering

27 August 2014 - The GL Education Group, the UK’s leading provider of formative assessments with a growing international presence, has acquired The Test Factory, an assessment technology supplier based near Sunderland in the north-east of England. The terms of the transaction are confidential.

Greg Watson, Chief Executive of the GL Education Group, welcomed the addition of new digital capability to the business: “We were a pioneer of digital assessment in schools a decade ago and our Testwise e-assessment platform is used in half of UK secondary schools and delivers two million digital tests globally annually. The Test Factory has been a pioneer in developing high-quality e-assessment technology and we look forward to investing in developing that technology even further.

“The Test Factory’s technology and skills will enable us to develop our platform further to support growing volumes, provide an improved experience for pupils and teachers, achieve wider global distribution and deliver a broader, more flexible portfolio of assessment and analytical products. At the same time, we will look to invest in significant new functionality for The Test Factory’s already impressive list of corporate and educational customers and for new ones who need a reliable assessment engine for their staff, students or customers.”

Kevin Beales, Managing Director of the Test Factory, said: “The GL Education Group is the ideal new investor for our business. The company’s experience and knowledge of assessment will help us develop the platform further and importantly, it also shares our vision to continue our growth in both corporate and education sectors.”
