ACE has revolutionised our approach to addressing Receptive and Expressive Language Issues with our pupils. It assists greatly with a diagnosis and informs an onward referral to a Speech and Language Therapist, as well as highlight particular areas of concern that can be addressed immediately within the school.Eivan Shanahan, Scoil Bhride BNS, Blanchardstown
Designed to identify children with delayed or impaired language development, the Assessment of Comprehension and Expression 6-11 (ACE 6-11) provides valuable and extensive information about their overall language ability. ACE 6-11 includes items which draw on verbal comprehension, expression and grammar, plus aspects of semantic and pragmatic knowledge, allowing professionals to identify children with significant and unusual patterns of language development.
Simple and quick to administer, the individual test is flexibly structured to allow the practitioner choice as to the depth and breadth of testing needed. It can be used for identification or screening; diagnosis or further investigation; intervention planning; and focused assessment on specific problems.
The main test includes five subtests: Sentence Comprehension, Inferential Comprehension, Naming, Syntactic Formulation and Semantic Decisions. The extended test includes these five subtests plus an additional two subtests: Non-Literal Comprehension and Narrative.
