Post-Primary Assessment Package

To support the transition to Post-Primary and help track progress in literacy and numeracy attainment during the first year, GL Assessment has introduced a new exclusive Post-Primary assessment package for schools in Ireland.

The Post-Primary Ireland Assessment Package combines the Cognitive Abilities Test: Irish Edition (CAT4) Level E, the New Group Reading Test (NGRT) A and B, the Progress Test in Maths (PTM) Level 11T, and thePupil Attitudes to Self and School (PASS) survey to offer schools a suite of assessments that can be used together to help teachers better monitor and assess their pupils during 1st year and into 2nd year.

What packages are available?

There is a choice of three packages available.

How does a paper/digital package work?

CAT4 paper or digital can be used prior to entry to Post-Primary
NGRT /PTM digital can then be administered upon entry to identify students who may not be reaching their potential
PASS can then be used at the end of 1st term to help identify any outside barriers early on
Both NGRT and PASS can also be administered a second time at the end of the school year to demonstrate progress (NGRT digital is a fully, adaptive reading test)

Ireland's most widely used test of reasoning abilities identifies pupils' developed abilities and likely academic potential.	Progress Test in Maths assesses pupils' mathematical skills and knowledge in areas such as number, shape, data handling and algebra.	Assesses and monitors pupils' reading and comprehension skills to help identify competent readers with weak comprehension skills.	Provides a complete picture of a pupil's motivation, attitudes and engagement in learning. Evidence will prove valuable in any School Self - Evaluation (SSE).
